Day in the City

One of the sweetest gifts during these months in the States is seeing these precious ones more often.

While Dave prepared to preach tomorrow at Grace Church of Dupage, I drove downtown Chicago to see all our kids: Tyler and Lara, Caleb and Haley, and Claire.

After meeting up with the girls and Caleb at Moody, we all headed for Intelligentsia where Tyler was working today.

Intelligentsia is a great coffee shop. But more than that, it's a place for a coffee connoisseur who wants to try something a little different.

Such as a rare coffee from the high mountains of Columbia.

Which my son (thanks to a generous and kind manager) served me for free. Awwww!!!

I wouldn't say I'm a connoisseur, but I will say that I drank it black and enjoyed it a lot.

"Thank you Tyler, my barista son!"

After hanging out for a while there at the coffee shop, Caleb and Haley headed off to the suburbs to do errands...

...while the three of us went out for lunch together. So sweet to have several hours of just catching up and being with each other.

What a gift and blessing to have a daughter, two sons and two daughter-in-laws (well, almost two...only 55 days until the wedding where Haley becomes a Patty!) who I love being with so much.

  1. Ah, I love seeing you all together…and seeing you, my friend, so happy! This is beautiful in every way.
