Getting Rid of These

Oh if our yard was only full of beauty like the lilacs blooming there right now.

Though they last for such a short time, they're glorious in both sight and smell right now. Aw! I love those lilacs.

Alas, the reality is a whole lot of these.

We are overrun with dandelions this spring, and they're HUGE! I don't mind a few here and there, but when the lawn and flower beds are literally choked with them, it's time to do something about it.

Enter an awesome new tool Dave brought home from one of our garden stores recently.

I'm not usually one to get excited about a tool, but this one is a game changer for me. It's become a daily ritual to get out there for an hour each day to pull them up by the hundreds. It's so rewarding to see a whole wheelbarrow full of them!

I hope the person who invented this made a decent amount of money for such a clever idea. It gets right down to the root and pulls it out, hopefully for good.

Yes, if the dandelion is deeply rooted, as many in our yard are, it leaves a small hole when it gets pulled out. Dave assures me though that it will fill in with grass and we'll have a thriving yard again soon.

A good tool is worth a lot.

And a husband who figures things out is worth a whole lot more!
