Our Future

Maybe you saw the title of the blog post and thought I was talking about our future, as in Dave's and mine. But no, I meant something else.

I'm talking about the future of these awesome, amazing, fantastic, and wonderful JV Kids.

I am so crazy about them...about who they are today, and who they will become in the future. They have the potential to change the world for Christ and make a difference in eternity. I really believe that about them.

On the final day of spring conference, they put on a program for the rest of us that just rocked! Gifted, talented, full of joy and spunk, they radiated energy and enthusiasm as they poured their heart into worshipping and celebrating the Lord.

These kids take their walks with God seriously, whether they're teenagers or school age kids. Shepherded well by their parents, they are living out their faith all across this region. I'm SO proud of them!

What I love is that they are not merely living by rules, going through the motions of faith or sitting on the sidelines. Instead, they are being led to a living faith by their parents that shows up in homes, at school, and in friendships. And they are actively involved in the ministry in genuine and vital ways. This is one awesome group of kids!

The team that came to lead the kids program for our school age kids said to one of our JV staff, "You know these kids aren't normal, right? We've never met kids like this before."

We agree! They are really something special, every one of them.

As they sang, did skits, danced and beamed on stage, I leaned over to someone and whispered, "That's our future".

These are the ones that will take the Gospel to the four corners of the earth. I really believe that! They've got the potential to be leaders among the body of Christ, wherever God leads them, in the years to come.

Would you stop for a minute and pray for them?

Pray for bold faith, deep integrity, God-honoring excellence, dynamic community and empowerment to do what God meant them to do. Those are the essence of JV's core values, ones that even our kids are seeking to live out.

I'll leave you with a short little video made by a former JV Kid*, who is doing what God meant him to do right now: study towards an Old Testament master's degree in preparation for heading back to work with Josiah Venture someday. This was the intro to all our main sessions of teaching at JV Spring Conference.

*Hint: he grew up in the Czech Republic :)*
