Despite snowy conditions outside, today was the day I needed to run into Ostrava to pick up gifts for an upcoming JV conference.
Do you see any difference between these two parking tickets for underground parking at the mall I went to?
Yes...different sizes...different dates...but there's something else very significant.
The top one was from another day at the mall, and is for three free hours of parking. After that it's 30 ($1.50) Kc an hour.
But what's the other one? And what is my "note to self" today??
DON'T LOSE THE PARKING TICKET!
Upon discovery of my lost ticket today, I found out from the underground parking garage man that it costs 1000 Kc to get out without your ticket.
WHAT??!! That's over $50!! (It actually says that's the fine right on the top parking ticket, but whoever pays attention to that??)
With that learned piece of knowledge, back to the car I went, once again scouring every nook and cranny, trying to find it.
Alas, no luck. It was not to be found.
However, if you have a friend who is resourceful and goes inside to the information desk (for those of you Ostrava people, it's near the gym upstairs by the food court), you can get a new ticket for free (though you do have to give some ID...I suppose so they can keep track of you and make sure you don't do this all the time).
WHEW! Really, really glad for that.
The underground parking man did NOT give up that piece of info! Of course his point explained earlier was that I might be trying to steal the car if I don't have the parking ticket.
No. That wouldn't be me. I just lost it somewhere along the way in the mall!
I drove home with a big sigh of relief that I wasn't $50 poorer today, just trying to get out of the mall.
Next time I'll be a whole lot more careful where I put that parking ticket.
