Ready to Write

Dave and I head into yet another new season of life today.

It's a season we've both been thinking about, praying for, and dreaming of for quite a long time.

Today we begin our season of writing.

As I shared in this blog post back in July, we are on a ten month sabbatical/home assignment from our ministry with Josiah Venture.

There are many facets to our time, one of which is writing. We've set aside blocks of time during these months to concentrate and focus on it, and today begins the first block!

Some dear friends are allowing us to use their home in New Hampshire for this six week period of writing. I can't even begin to tell you how beautiful it is here!

I went out for my first walk here this morning and was happily overwhelmed by the smell of the salty Atlantic sea air, the deeply hued fall leaves, the brilliant sunshine and pale blue sky, and the gorgeous coastline that is new to me.

It is an immensely good gift from our friends, and the Lord, to be here in this place to start our writing projects.

I have three writing projects on my heart: two children's books, and one novel. While I know that probably sounds overly ambitious, it's honestly what the Lord has laid on my heart - not what I had intended to do!

When we first began to dream about a period of time for writing, I had a completely different thought on what I'd like to write. But after our time in Croatia, resting and listening the Lord, He gave me these three projects.

I don't know which one I'll start with. I don't know how far I'll get on any of them!

But what He's telling me is "Just write what I tell you to write."

So as I sit here looking out the window at that view, my ears are open to listen. My heart is racing with excitement. My fingers are poised over the keyboard, waiting for His direction.

I'm ready to write for Him.

  2. You go girl! That's what He told me when I started too. He led me to Exodus where He told Moses that He would put HIS words in His mouth. I think that's the equivalent of Him putting His words in our hands on the keyboard, don't you? I'm looking forward to reading what He gives you! (as I imagine you are too!)

  3. No matter where you are on the NH coast, we are only a couple of hours away. I know that writing can be a tricky thing, but we hope that we can spend even an hour or two with you over sometime in the next 6 weeks. In the meantime, I can't wait to see what comes of your collaboration with the Lord!

  4. You and Dave have landed at another beautiful coastal setting! It looks so beautiful, but so different from Croatia!

It is fun to hear that you are thinking of Children's books. I'm hoping the words just flow onto the page for you and Dave. You have so much to offer others for inspiration and knowledge.
