A Kind Gift

The Lord woke me up at 4:30 this morning. I know I have friends who wake up early like that, but it's definitely not my normal time to be awake.

But look what I got to see because I was up!

And it was even more spectacular in person than what my phone camera captured. I stood there absolutely enraptured at the beauty, praying and enjoying the Lord as I watched it unfold.

Within fifteen minutes the sky had turned cloudy, and we barely saw a peep of sunshine the rest of the day.

Seriously, that bear just makes me happy every time I see him sitting there!

Other than a normal "at home" work day, there was one unusual event in the day.

No, it wasn't me cooking! Wow, have I ever done a lot of cooking in the past months since we've been under "stay at home" orders. I've gotten completely re-inspired to cook, and am usually looking up at least one new recipe a day, making all sorts of new things.

But what was the unusual event?

The installation of a new oven and stovetop!

A few months ago several burners stopped working, and the temperature in my oven was not even anymore. The appliances are 16 years old, and when we inquired about getting them fixed, we were told it probably wasn't worth it.

So after a search on the web to find new ones, waiting weeks for their delivery, and then waiting some more for someone to have time to come install it, today was the day!

Our friend, Petr, who has helped us with so many projects through the years, came over too, and helped his electrician friend put it in. I am so thankful for his kindness in doing that!

I'm excited to try it all out soon. I had something in the slow cooker for dinner so haven't used either the stovetop or oven yet.

What should be the first thing I bake in the oven??!!
