Home on the Range

What could be better for clearing your mind, body, soul and spirit than a morning ride up into the beautiful mountains of Wyoming? What a gift to do that today.

I barely remember the last time I rode a horse...maybe when I lived in Spain? For sure many years have passed since riding horses with neighborhood friends while growing up in Oregon.

But I guess it's like riding a bike...somehow you never forget!

I climbed up in that saddle and felt right at home.

We rode with our friends for several hours, soaking in the fall beauty, the smell of sagebrush, and the warmth of the sun which was a perfect temperature for riding.

Halfway through the ride, we stopped to stretch our legs and take a few photos. It was then I realized it's been a while since I've been on a horse. There is definitely "muscle memory" for where you hurt when you ride!

But there's nothing better than getting back in the saddle and toughening up those muscles. If I ever lived somewhere where I could ride every day, I would!

After two hours of a delightful, peaceful and enjoyable time with our friends and the horses, we came back to the corral to curry and brush them - something I remember doing in my childhood when friends had horses. Spud and Jake were more than happy to let us care for them. And pose for pictures!

I don't know how often I'll get to ride horses on this earth, but I sure hope the Lord has them in heaven. I'll be riding every day if there are!
