My Dear Sister-in-Love

One of the joys of our ministry with Josiah Venture is that I get to serve alongside my sister-in-lawlove, Kristi.

She's lived with her husband Josh and their four children in Slovenia since 2001, leading the team there until just recently (they have a new position in JV as regional directors now).

I asked her to help me lead the Pioneer Women's retreat this year and she delightfully agreed. She not only brings wisdom, depth and maturity into any setting she's in, but also a lot of joy, spunk and fun too. This retreat was no exception to that!

When Kristi's around, you just know there will be a lot of smiles and laughter!

She came out of the kitchen wearing her princess tiara, and proceeded to lead us in a rousing game of Princess Jeopardy! (If you don't know what Jeopardy is, it's an American game show that started back in the 1960's)

With matching tiaras for all the ladies, she rolled out the game to us.

After a long day of traveling (some women had been up since the wee hours of the morning in order to take flights to get here), you sure don't want to do anything heavy on the first night of a retreat. Putting on tiaras and answering silly questions is a much better choice!

Before the retreat, Kristi and her daughters compiled all sorts of princess questions - all the way from Disney princesses to facts about Princess Kate in England - in order to make a Jeopardy board with princess categories. That's a lot of work thinking all that up, but being the queen of games back in her early youth worker days, she was up for the challenge!

Once the explanations were finished, the fun began!

I can't even begin to describe the hilarity of these ladies as they banged on pots with wooden spoons when they thought they had the answers!

Oh how good it was to just laugh!

And Kristi kept us going with her smiles, good nature and fun humor! What a great way to start off our retreat.

"Thank you dear Kristi for adding so much life and joy to the retreat! You bring such a wonderful spirit to any place you are, and we are all the richer for having been in your presence.

And that was an awesome game to start off the retreat!"

  1. Well I've finally settled in at home and was wondering if you'd posted yet about our retreat. I should have known you were right on top of that!!!! Sure was a sweet time! So glad we will get to see everyone again in May. I'm going through withdrawal!
