Goodbye For Now

After five incredibly special days, I had to say goodbye to my parents and my brother today.

I soaked up one last view of their house on Burke street in Eugene, and then we headed for the airport.

I took my first trip, and very first airplane ride, out of this airport 48 years ago when I was 9 years old! Who knew how many more flights I would take over the following years, and that eventually my family and I would live in the Czech Republic?

I'm thankful for my mom and dad who always love me well, whether I'm coming or going.

As I sat on the runway earlier today and looked out over this pretty land, I thanked the Lord for giving me this special time with my family.

I don't know how it could have been any sweeter!

So until next time, I love you Dad and Mom, and am thankful for all the ways you love and care for me, especially to let me go and do what the Lord has called me to do. That takes a lot of trust in him, and you do that well! Thank you for that gift.

If you look closely you'll see a roundabout with a long road leading east. That goes right to my parents' house! It was a special view to have as I left Eugene!
