Training Begins

This evening I arrived up at Malenovice just in time for a glorious sunset.

Sweet sounds of worship were streaming out from the hotel as I made my way over to the meeting room. JV summer interns and our staff, who are here to train them, lifted their voices in praise to the Lord.

You could feel the passion for the Lord of these college students as they worshipped. Each year we have interns here I enjoy worshipping with them. There's nothing quite like it, being with young people who are so excited and motivated to be here, on mission to bring the Gospel to Central and Eastern Europe.

Rachael, our JV intern director, opened the evening program, speaking so winsomely in her Northern Irish accent as she challenged the students to be open to what the Lord wants to do in them and through them this summer.

Their training had already started in the morning as they began to be equipped with skills for the summer.

Over the next four days they'll be learning about building good team dynamics and healthy practices of living well in community with each other and with JV staff they'll be serving with. They'll talk about understanding and reaching young people they'll meet at camps with the Gospel. They'll be equipped for how to handle conflict on their teams, as well as how to stay vibrant in their walks with God amidst a full schedule. And that's only part of what they'll be getting during their training. It's intense, but SO rich!

Throughout the next days they'll also get to hear testimonies from our JV staff who are nationals living and serving among their own people. Tonight they got to hear from Indrek, who lives in Estonia, and his story of coming to faith in Christ.

Also for the next four evenings, Dave will be teaching the interns, leading them through the book of Ephesians.

The first summer back in 1984 that I spent in Germany on a team with him, he also led us through the book of Ephesians, and it was life changing for me.

I'm so excited that these young people will have the same opportunity for life transformation as Dave opens the Word to them and leads them in understanding who they are in Christ.
